A mellow, yet party-ready whale. A handsome fox. A posh flamingo. An adorably curious lamb. A coy giraffe. These sweet - but never saccharine - felted sculptures (and more) make up the charming menagerie of PetitFelts. Conceived and handcrafted by Jocelyn Krodman from her Hudson Valley studio, the finger puppets and playthings that comprise the PetitFelts cast of characters run the gamut of the animal kingdom, from common farm animals to exotic safari creatures. But don't be fooled by their childlike innocence - these cuties are for kids and kids-at-heart alike.
After following her work for quite some time on Instagram and Etsy, I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Jocelyn in person at the Sweet Paul Makerie last month. Jocelyn was every bit as delightful as her designs, a deeply warm and kind soul, incredibly gracious, and a total kick-ass teacher. Taking her class not only turned me on to the addictive world of felting, but it also illustrated just how immensely talented Jocelyn is. From little more than a ball of wool and a needle, Jocelyn brings to life the kind of kissable creatures that every animal lover's dreams are made of. From their expressive faces to their begging-to-be-touched bodies to their tiny little party hats, every doll in the PetitFelt family is a surefire memory-maker for generations to come.
